I read a book about Kids and the media and "unplugging your kids." They really do behave a lot better, play better, and have more imagination. We do not have cable and haven't for over a year now. It saves money and decreases the temptation for TV. David just watches the nightly news on the computer and I have a few shows I like to watch on hulu.com when I'm cooking. Good luck, such a great goal!Michelle Chttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02535922392086740169noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1605902745484869625.post-19493358088434051322011-08-23T22:54:31.961-05:002011-08-23T22:54:31.961-05:00We've never had TV since we've been marrie...We've never had TV since we've been married, just Netflix, and it works out great!! I do miss watching sporting events, you know, Utah Jazz basketball and Boston Red Sox baseball, but I figure when I am done with school, i will probably subscribe to NBA TV and MLB.TV online and get my fix that way, as long as we have an internet connection that is fast enough. I don't even watch ESPN hardly ever anymore!! Although, like many others have said, i probably spend too much time on the computer, but that's hard to avoid when i'm on it so much for school and i get really bored!!Shane Searlenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1605902745484869625.post-53152272383522461212011-08-23T16:32:20.094-05:002011-08-23T16:32:20.094-05:00We have a TV, but it's not hooked up and hasn&...We have a TV, but it's not hooked up and hasn't been since we moved in May. We've never had cable in the 10 years we've been together. We don't miss it at all (and it saves us about $600 a year). We get shows we want to watch through Netflix (and even that doesn't happen very often). If we want to watch a movie, we watch it on the computer. And our kids have never watched TV and have seen only three movies in their 4.5 years.

I'm a big "no TV" evangelist. The only time we miss it is during the baseball play-offs (and my husband has now subscribed to MLB.com's streaming games, so he can watch any game in the country--problem solved).

That said, I spend too much time on the Internet. I need to work on managing my time there....Terzahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10617301871875902162noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1605902745484869625.post-16189115909289106712011-08-23T15:46:53.063-05:002011-08-23T15:46:53.063-05:00I once lived without a tv for a year when I was 26...I once lived without a tv for a year when I was 26, didn't miss it after the first couple months. We have netflix now, and we like having that. We can really limit how much and when we watch anything. The only thing that we really miss is having the local channels because we miss watching the news. But you can do that online, so its not that bad! I'm truly amazed at your dedication, you are inspiring! You are doing a great job!sydneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06614235763166250936noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1605902745484869625.post-57820910944762852362011-08-23T09:09:12.323-05:002011-08-23T09:09:12.323-05:00You know, we got rid of subscription TV and went t...You know, we got rid of subscription TV and went to broadcast stations and Netflix. It's a lot cheaper and we don't watch as much TV as before. I average about 10 hours per week unless it's football season, then it's 12-13 per week ;)Paul Ronehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03877425450113304930noreply@blogger.com
