Stronger and Faster

We had a new route today, a 5 mile course.  Bob ran with me and pushed me further than I thought I could go.  His story is pretty amazing.  His wife started running with Nixa Running, and he really wasn't that interested in running with them. Then one day, his wife talked him into doing it.

He came once and kept coming.  Started off slow like me, walking then running.  Started running more and more, and now he can run the whole time.  Last year, he had a heart attack while running, not because he was running.  The doctors told him because he ran as much as he did, it saved his life.  This morning, I wanted to quit and walk at one point, and he said, "If I can have a heart attack and finish my run, you can finish this."  He pushed me further.  We all need that.  We get comfortable at our own pace.  We always need to push ourselves to become better.

Thanks for running with me today, Bob!  You are one of my inspirations!

Who pushes you?  How will you be better?  How have you inspired someone to be better today?

I also have some exciting giveaways coming up soon!  Stay tooned!

Nice job!

You coached softball?! I played in youth and college! I remember those summers with multiple games a day in heat and humidity!!

Yup! I loved it. I wish I had time to coach again. I did it for 3 years with BYU-Idaho.

I think it is great that you found inspiration with this other runner. Great progress.

Hoping to find another local runner myself someday.

Ouch, that's rough! "If I can have a heart attack and finish my run, you can finish this." ???

A comment like that definitely puts things in perspective.

Way to go!
