Yeah! I Am Getting Better!

The doctor called me yesterday and told me I had Giardia.  We have no idea how I got it.  Usually people get it when traveling to different countries or camping.  I have done none of those things.  It's basically a parasite that lives in my intestines, and it prevents me from absorbing nutrients. It makes sure the good goes right through me. I have almost lost 20 lbs in the last two-three weeks.  That is a lot of weight.

My doctor gave me some meds and said I should be feeling much better soon.  I took it last night and this morning, I could tell a difference. I woke up at 4 am to run with Nixa Running.  It has been killing me to see all their posts on facebook and seeing them run and me not being able to be out there.  I got all packed up and ready to go and could not find my keys.  It took Jenn and I 90 minutes to find them.  They were in the couch, and we looked there 3 different times.  I was able to make it to boot camp a few minutes late and got a workout in.  Let me tell you... it felt great!  Missing a whole week was horrible.  I love my time to workout.

I am just happy I am going to be better, and I am happy I can get back on track with working out.  I guess a positive side effect is that I lost a good chunk of weight from all of this.  I will hopefully keep it off and keep losing the weight!

I'm so glad you got an answer and are on the mend. Wow that sounds like an ugly thing to have.

Wow, some what frightening that you picked it up - but awesome that your doc figured it out! Did the doc have a guess on how long before it stopped affecting the quality of your workouts?

Good luck to it being a really short time to recover!

I guess if you have to be sick, the kind that takes 20lbs off is the best kind. :) So glad that they figured it out and you are feeling better. SO STRANGE that you got it though. Bleck.

Isn't it great to have a concrete answer and to know that it is FIXABLE? I'm really happy for you and so glad you could get back to your workouts. You will come out on the other side of this even stronger.
